Subject
An introduction to Canadian Deaf Telecom Alliance
Dear Association and Community Representatives,
I am writing to introduce Canadian Deaf Telecom Alliance (CDTA), an independent advocacy initiative focused on better telecommunications access for Deaf people across Canada.
Deaf people deserve communication without unnecessary barriers. Reliable calls, clear video, accessible messaging and effective support are essential to everyday independence. Interpreters also need dependable technology that supports their professional work.
CDTA is developing a short petition and an optional community feedback form to understand what works, where difficulties remain and which improvements matter most. We welcome perspectives from Deaf users, interpreters, associations and other community stakeholders.
Our priorities include service reliability, clearer complaint follow-up, meaningful community participation and careful evaluation of future technology. Individual experiences will be distinguished from verified findings, and petition support will be recorded separately from feedback.
Separately, xct.guru is working on an experimental communication platform. Development goals include smoother access, easier contact management, video messaging or voicemail, and tools for reaching the appropriate contact or service. These ideas require development, accessibility testing and community feedback before their performance can be assessed.
We invite your organization to review CDTA’s introduction and consider sharing our participation invitation with your members and wider Deaf community when it opens. Please let us know whether you would like launch information or can help distribute it.
If you share the invitation, we would appreciate confirmation of the date, distribution method and, where available, a public announcement link.
CDTA plans to maintain a public outreach page showing organizations contacted, introduction dates, acknowledged receipt and confirmed sharing. Sharing not yet confirmed will mean only that CDTA has not received confirmation. Private correspondence and personal contact details will remain private. Sharing the invitation will not be presented as endorsement of every CDTA position.
We would welcome your community’s priorities and suggestions as this work develops.
Sincerely,
D. McCracken
